TEXTUAL ANALYSIS

With its constant sub-zero temperatures and uninhabited glacier terrain, Antarctica is not usually thought of as a luxury locale.(to express thoughts, feelings, impressions and immediate reactions) But tour operator White Desert is determined to change that. Offering a few expeditions a year to their upscale, well-furnished camp, the group affords a few hundred travellers the chance to experience the inner part of the icy continent with (almost) all the comforts of home.(to refer to general truths such as scentific facts.)
White Desert founder Patrick Woodhead, who led the very first east-to-west traverse of Antarctica in 2002, envisioned the camp on one of his many expeditions. While waiting out a storm in the bitter cold, he and his fellow travellers imagined a more inclusive polar experience complete with luxury transportation and accommodation.(to describe the background events in a story.)
Today travellers get to experience that dream when they book one of the bespoke itineraries or organised trips that are offered during the continent’s late spring and summer (November and December).(to express latest trends at the moment.) The trips all start with a five-hour private flight from Cape Town to an ice runway perched atop a 50m-tall frozen waterfall located within the Dronning Maud Land region in eastern Antarctica.(to refer to general truths such as scientific facts.)

ANGER MANAGEMENT TASK

Character Analysis

David

He is a mild-mannered, timid, submissive businessman. He can not defend himself because he scares from upsetting people. He is a good person but he has problems with communicating with others.

Linda

She is David's girlfriend. She looks innocent and gullible but she hatches a funny but cruel plot against his David. Her aim is to make David a true man that he can defend himself against his annoying boss and such people.

Dr.Rydell

He is interesting and mysterious for a doctor. He is funny and sneaky also very professional doctor because he does lots of things to cure his patient. That is a unique situtation.

Event Analysis

Because of David's characteristics event action occurs and rises. He can not communicate smoothly with the hostess and the policeman.

I think David is guilty because he should have controlled his anger. I know he was right at first but his anger made the situation total opposite.

Person of the Year

Hello everyone! I'm here to introduce my candidate : Uğur Dündar! He is a Turkish journalist, anchorman, political commentator and writer. was born in Akören village of Silivri district in Istanbul Province in 28 August 1943. He grudated from Istanbul University's Economics faculty. He joined Turkish Radio and Television Corporation in 1970 and built a journalistic career over more than 20 years. Until 2011, Dündar was the anchorman of Star TV where he headed the news team. Currently he is writing for Sözcü and has a program on Halk TV.

I think he is one of the unique people that have had a significant impact on whole community ,of course, in a posivite way. His columns are enlightening and have a concern about informing people. He is a true Kemalist, secular and nationalist. He loves his country and, I think it is important that everything he does is for his country's welfare.

He has a program, Halk Arenası, on Halk Tv. The program's aim is to give information about current issues of the country, to make people aware of what is awaiting for them. Uğur Dündar deserve this award, because he is the one who has tried his best throughout his life to carry this country a step forward.

REFLECTION TASK 2B

Game of Thrones

Hi there! I have chosen the TV series ''Game of Thrones''. It is my favorite TV series that I have watched the whole seasons in 5 days. In fact, Game of Thrones is the toppest rated Tv series according to IMDB with 9.5 out of 10.

PLOT

Nine noble families fight for control of the mythical land of Westeros. Political and sexual intrigue is pervasive. Robert Baratheon, King of Westeros, asks his old friend Eddard, Lord Stark, to serve as Hand of the King, or highest official. Secretly warned that the previous Hand was assassinated, Eddard accepts in order to investigate further. Meanwhile, the Queen's family, the Lanniesters, may be planning a plot to take power. Across the sea, the last members of the previous and deposed ruling family, the Targaryens, are also scheming to regain the throne. The friction between the houses Stark, Lannister, Baratheon and Targaryen and with the remaining great houses Greyjoy, Tully, Arryn, Tyrell and Martell leads to full-scale war. All while a very ancient evil awakens in the farthest north. Amidst the war and political confusion, a neglected military order of misfits, the Night's Watch, is all that stands between the realms of men and icy horrors beyond.

(Season 1: Eddard Stark, the new Hand of the King)

Perspective of the Writer

In the series, I want to emphasize two significant points. First, many headroles dies throughout the series. Second, while nine noble families focus on taking control of the throne by all kinds of intigues, White Walkers (zombie-like creatures that can not killed by an ordinary weapon.) have awaken to wipe out mankind. I think the writer wants to point out two deadly sin that are Greed and Arrogance because even they are noble Kings and Queens they all may die and, while nine families are fighting each other brutally they are threatened by an immortal power.
