REFLECTION TASK 2A (EDITED)

MYTHOLOGY

Hey buddies! I have chosen the topic '' Mythology'' because of my deep interest ,especially in Greek and Roman Mythologies. Actually, Mythology is the one of the most important subjects like History and Geography because thanks to Mythology one can understand the mentality of a certain civilisation and also, its culture. Therefore, it gets pretty easier to analyse civilisations in every aspect such as economy and agriculture. In addition, Mythology and religion are twin brothers and analysing a certain civilisation's religion gives plenty of clues about its culture.

As I mentioned before, my main interest Mythologies are Roman and Greek. Greek mythology is the body of myths and teachings that belong to the Ancient Greeks, concerning their gods and heroes, the nature of the world, and the origins and significance of their own cult and ritual pratices. It was a part of the religion in Ancient Greece.

Greek Mythology is explicitly embodied in a large collection of narratives, and implicitly in Greek representational arts, such as vase paintings and votive gifts. Greek myth attempts to explain the origins of the world, and the details the lives and adventures of a wide variety of gods, goddesses, heroes, heroines and mythological creatures.

There are many similarities between Roman and Greek Mythologies because Romans were significantly influenced by Greek Mythology. Roman folk needed to be protected when diseases and amount of wars increased. They adopted the religion of Greeks and adjusted it according to their daily lives. For example, because Romans experienced more wars and subsequently, became disciplined and military civilisation, Mars, God of Wars, gained more importance than in Greek civilisation.

There are also myths about heroes. One of the most popular of them is Heracles (Hercules in Roman Mythology). The myth is known as The Labors of Heracles. Here, some information if you are interested:

  1. Dear Sergen,
I know that you have a great interest in mithology and I can say that your writing style, organization and content is really nice. Actually, I don't like commenting on gramatical mistakes, but as a part of work, I must do when I see. In the line "by analysing a certain civilisation's religion gives plenty of clues about its culture.", I think there is no need to say "by" because you already give that meaning saying "analysing" and in the line " my main interest Mythologies.." it's better to say "interest in".I am sure it is just a distractibility. Thanks a lot for informing us about this interesting topic.:))

  2. I have editted first paragraph but I don't see any problem at ''interest'' part because I use it as a adjective. Thanks for commenting.
